GOLD ACCENT BAGS

This DIY is so easy and it only took me a night to do! I found these colourful pouches for a dollar each off a street shop in Bangkok last year. The colours were too plain for my liking, but I love the contrasting bright colours of the pouch and the zipper. It isn’t very time consuming and it can jazz up old bags and pouches instantly (more like in a day but y’know!!).

These are made of PVC material. I found some gold paint ($4.50) from Art Friend. This one gives off a nice shiny gold sheen, but only after five coats of paint. The packaging says to wait an hour between each coat, but I reapplied the paint about every 30 minutes and that seemed to do the trick too!

What you need:

  • Gold acrylic paint
  • A paintbrush
  • Some old newspaper
  • Masking tape
  • A pouch!

For the blue pouch, I taped a corner of the pouch to newspaper to section off a corner I wanted for it to be gold. For the pink pouch, I taped a v-shape and tried to keep it symmetrical (I TRIED!!). Even if it ends up being asymmetrical, the gold itself is pretty enough to distract people from noticing! I left it to dry for a day and after that you can pretty much start using it.
